Murder at the Howard Johnson's
Comedy by Ron Clark & Sam Bobrick
Cherokee Room Theater, Connestee Falls Clubhouse, March 17-26, 2006
Directed by Marjorie Megivern
About the Show
A suspense-comedy, this is a madcap love triangle, housed at a Howard Johnson's
Motor Inn. Mitchell Lovell, a dentist and self-appointed "dashing hero," and Arlene
Miller, a middle-aged "femme fatale," plan to murder her husband, Paul, a blundering
used-car salesman. But when Arlene learns that her lover, Mitchell, has been unfaithful
she allies herself with her husband to do away with him. Then the two men, feeling
foolish and betrayed, join forces against Arlene. Each ludicrous murder attempt fails and,
according to Variety magazine, "There are enough laugh lines and extravagant sight gags
to outfit two rapid-fire farces-of-the-absurd." This romp is another good choice for
BLT's very popular Dinner Theater series in the Cherokee Room Theater.
Dinner in the Carolina Dining Room, with its magnificent mountain views, is optional at
the Friday and Saturday evening performances. The Connestee Clubhouse Grill will be
open for the Sunday matinees. A cash bar (pre-show and intermission) will be provided
at all performances.
