Arsenic and Old Lace replaced by Love Letters – More Details

The cast of Arsenic and Old Lace is relatively large, with eleven male roles—more than twice
the number for an average, non-musical production.  Despite efforts to exhort male actors
from our own list of “usual suspects,” raid the closets of neighboring theatre groups, and
entice actors discovered at joint auditions held earlier this year, only three men appeared for
the two audition sessions.  After many additional phone calls, another actor made an
appointment for a private audition, and then didn’t show up.  In such circumstances, it was
impossible to produce the play.

Fortunately,
Love Letters was at hand as a ready and suitable replacement.  Veteran actors
Joe Narsavage and Julie Vorus very recently collaborated on a local, benefit production of
this critically acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize-nominated comedy/drama.  (Joe has been with BLT for
15 seasons, winning a total of six BLT Best Actor awards in three categories; Julie made her
BLT debut as the controlling, manipulative Bunny Sutherland in The Hallelujah Girls and has
acted in productions for 15 theatre companies, three films, and more than a dozen TV
commercials.)  See the Love Letters web page for more information
