Dear friends of Brevard Little Theatre:
It is with regret that I announce that BLT must cancel its production of The Glass
Menagerie. This action was made necessary by three conspiring factors: First, it
took much longer than expected to find a cast, which delayed the start of
rehearsals; second, snow storms caused cancellation of several rehearsals; and
finally, the illness of a cast member caused further rehearsal interruptions. To
offset these factors, we tried to slip the performance dates, but that caused
schedule conflicts for half of the cast members. Subsequent discussions
amongst members of the BLT board, our artistic director, and the play’s director
led to the inescapable conclusion that we no longer had enough time to properly
produce this play—or a suitable replacement that would meet the standards you
and we have come to expect from BLT. Our next production will consequently
be the winner of our New Play Competition, Birds in the Weather by David
Muschell, running May 6-9, 2010.
Please accept my apologies for this rare but unavoidable situation. We still hope
to produce The Glass Menagerie in the future. Meanwhile, implications for
season ticket holders are addressed below.
Sincerely,
Mark Thompson
President
Brevard Little Theatre
Note for season subscribers: Because of the flexible manner in which BLT
season tickets may be used, the cancellation of one of our regular season
productions does not diminish the monetary value of the tickets. Nonetheless,
as an apology for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation, all current and
future 2010 season ticket holders may use one of the numbered punches on
their card for a ticket to our summer musical, Anything Goes. Full details are
provided here http://www.brevardlittletheatre.com/CancelNotice2010.html and in
a letter to be mailed to all season subscribers.
